Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has been reluctant to comment on rumours linking the Gunners to the signing of Alexandre Lacazette.
The 25-year-old Lacazette, who is the star striker at French club Lyon, has been impressive in Ligue 1. Only outgoing PSG striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has scored more goals in the French top flight in the last two years.
But Wenger has refused to comment on any alleged interest as he believes any words would only serve to stoke the speculation, reports Goal.
West Ham United, meanwhile, did make a bid for the player earlier this month. Believed to have been in the region of €40-million, it was Lacazette’s reluctance to relocate to the club which served to scupper the move, rather than the proposed fee.
Lacazette has long been touted as an attractive striking option for the Emirates club. The player netted 21 goals last term from 34 league appearances.
