Everton have identified Newcastle United midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum as one of their top transfer targets before the start of the 2016-17 season.
The club’s transfer committee met earlier this week and pinpointed the 25-year old as a vital part of Ronald Koeman’s new-look midfield, according to SkySports.
It is understood that Everton have made inquiries to Wijnaldum’s representatives regarding the player’s situation at St James’ Park.
The new Toffees manager was reportedly keen on capturing the services of the Dutch international when he was still in charge of Southampton.
Newcastle have stated that none of their top players are for sale as they battle in the Eglish Championship to regain their Premier League status.e
However SkySports understands that bids in excess of £25-million would land the midfielder, who cost Newcastle £14.5m at the start of the 2015-16 season.
