Ashley Williams starred for Wales as they claimed a 3-1 victory over Belgium to secure their place in the semi-finals of Euro 2016.

With Wales advancing into the semi-finals, the Swansea City defender proved his worth after scoring the equalising goal in the 30th minute, levelling the scores at 1-1, before Hal Robson-Kanu and substitute Sam Vokes secured their progression into the last four of the tournament.

The 31-year-old was brilliant in defence for Wales, winning two out of three tackles, while contributing a total of seven clearances after spending 90 minutes on the field.

According to SASoccermag’s Opta-powered match stats, Ashley Williams managed 52 touches on the ball, while he won three out of six duels.

In attack, Williams managed to fire four shots on target, all coming from inside the Belgium penalty area and ultimately leading up to the Welsh side getting the equalising goal in the 30th minute.

The Welsh captain completed an impressive 30 out of 35 passes, with 45.7% coming from straight down the centre while 31.4% coming from the right.

Although Wales won the match, Belgium controlled the match and had the best possession (52.9%), while the Walsh side could only manage 47.1% of possession.

Wales had more shots on goal then Belgium, producing 15 chances at goal compared to 14 efforts respectively.

The Welsh side will now take on Portugal in the semi-finals at the Stade Des Lumieres on Wednesday.
