Wilshere: Gunners must show focus

Jack Wilshere is confident his Arsenal side have the potential to end their Premier Leauge drought this season.

The Gunners finished second the standings last season as a run of poor form effectively ended their hopes of taking the title, despite seeming well placed to challenge eventual winners Leicester City.

According to Wilshere, however, if the side can hold their nerve better than they have in past seasons, they can finally fulfill their title dreams.

‘There are a few small things that we have to work on,’ the 24-year-old told the media, reports Yahoo News.

‘The biggest thing for me is if you look back at the games last season we dropped points in, they were probably games we were expected to win.’

Wilshere believes his side need to show greater focus so as to ensure they don’t take their opposition for granted.

‘We need to be more focused for them and to take each game as seriously as any other. After we beat Leicester at home last season, we dropped off a little bit.’

Wilshere recently returned to action for England in Euro 2016 having been ruled out for almost the entire season through injury.

Arsenal are at home to Liverpool in their first game of the new season on Sunday and Wilshere has admitted he is excited to get started.

Kick-off is at 17:00.
