Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere believes the future is bright for the Gunners and he has picked out two rising stars to make their breakthrough this season.
The 24-year-old has played with both Chris Willock and Jeff Reine-Adelaide and has been hugely impressed with what he has seen, reports the Arsenal website.
Wilshere believes that Willock has the talent and ability to succeed in the Gunners first time and he insists that he will prove his worth once he gets an opportunity.
‘I’ve played with Chris for a few years in training and last year he came on tour,’ Wilshere said.
‘I think he has improved, he has become stronger and he is one of those players that have a natural ability running with the ball.
‘He can take contact well if someone smashes into him. He has got great balance… if Chris gets his chance I’m sure he will take it.’
The England international continued to say that he believes Reine-Adelaide is confident and ready to make his senior debut after impressing Wilshere during the Emirates Cup last season.
‘I think one thing that strikes everyone [about Jeff] is his confidence. Last year when he played in the Emirates Cup, he was only 17 years old and he wasn’t afraid to get the ball down take players on and play,’ he added.
‘I think the year in the under-21s has really helped him and he is ready to make that step up.’
Last season, Willock made 29 appearances for Arsenal’s U20 side, scoring eight goals and assisting a further three in all competitions.
Meanwhile, Reine-Adelaide has made 22 appearances for Arsenal’s U23 side, assisting four and netted three goals in all competitions.
