Swiss midfield maestro Granit Xhaka is ‘on the way up’, according to Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger.
The Switzerland midfielder became the Gunners first signing during the transfer window and has already scored three goals from 17 appearances in all competitions since making the move from Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach.
The 24-year-old believes he is improving in the Premier League in recent weeks and feels like he is stepping up his performance on the field.
‘Actually, it’s normal when you come to a new club and country [that it takes time],’ Xhaka told the Arsenal website.
‘You need to get used to the language, the philosophy of the team, the squad, the coach. But I do feel very happy and comfortable here, and I know the potential I have.
‘In football, you just have to develop yourself.’
Arsenal will now take on Basel in the Champions League in their final group A match on Tuesday.
The match at St Jakob-Park kicks off at 21:45.
