Former Manchester United midfielder Owen Hargreaves has declared that the signing of Zlatan Ibrahimovic is easily the best of the last transfer window.
Ibrahimovic has made a largely successful start to life in Manchester but was guilty of missing a great chance against Liverpool in United’s last fixture on Monday night.
Ibrahimovic has netted four times in eight Premier League appearances thus far for United and although the goals have somewhat dried up for the big Swede of late, Hargreaves insists no one comes close to matching the value of his transfer.
Ibrahimovic joined United on a free transfer from PSG in this past transfer window, a factor that Hargreaves appears to have taken into account when evaluating the star’s impact.
‘The signing of the season by far has been Zlatan Ibrahimovic,’ Hargreaves told BT Sport.
‘To get him on a free transfer – and a player of that quality. I wouldn’t like to know where Manchester United would be without Zlatan Ibrahimovic,’ he added.
United, who have made a mixed start to the season, currently sit at seventh on the Premier League table.
The side are next in action when they face Fenerbahce in the Europa League on Thursday.
The action gets underway at Old Trafford from 21:05.
