Golden Arrows secured a 2-1 comeback victory over Bloemfontein Celtic in the Absa Premiership at the Dr Molemela Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Abafana Bes’thende got a bit of a scare in the fifth minute when Lerato Lamola had to be stretchered after a collision with Patrick Tignyemb, however,the forward managed to return to the field soon after.

However, both sides struggled to carve out clear-cut opportunities and were forced to take their chances from range.

Arrows goalkeeper Maximilian Mbaeva rescued his side from conceding a goal after he produced a fine save to deny Musa Nyatama’s long range long range effort.

Phunya Sele Sele were dealt a blow just before the half time break when Deon Hotto picked up a knock and had to be replaced by Khethokwakhe Masuku.

However, Siwelele broke the deadlock five minutes into the second half when Alfred Ndengane saw his effort deflect off of Musa Bilankulu and into the back of the net to make it 1-0.

Arrows responded fast a few minutes later and leveled matters when Nkanyiso Mngwengwe rose well to head home Wayde Jooste’s corner.

Abafana Bes’thende started dominating the match and took the lead for the first time in the match by a goal from Jooste in the 76th minute to make it 2-1.

Meanwhile, Celtic pushed numbers forward in the hopes of finding an equalising goal but failed to carve out a chance as Arrows when on to win the match 2-1 after the final whistle to secure their third consecutive victory, while Celtic are still in searching of their first win in the Absa Premiership.
