Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Keagan Buchanan says he is confident he can succeed at the club after return after being sidelined for eight-month.
The 25-year-old joined Amakhosi from Bloemfontein Celtic at the start of the season but has been sidelined after sustaining a knee injury sustained in November 2015 when he was still playing for Celtic.
Buchanan has expressed his excitement at recovering from his injury and has already been playing in the MultiChoice Diski Challenge and a friendly match against Botswana side Township Rollers.
‘I am excited to be back,’ Buchanan told the Kaizer Chiefs website.
‘Especially in the MDC, you have some young guys, they see you and they want to impress – I went past quite a few tackles. So that’s now out of my mind.’
Buchanan says that he is looking forward to taking on Phunya Sele Sele, the side where he spent three years at, scoring once and assisted a further four goals from 50 appearances in all competitions.
‘The game will give me a platform to see where I am in terms of fitness and touch of the ball. It’s special to be back, it’s emotional as well,’ he added.
The former FC Cape Town midfielder says there is pressure for him to do well at Amakhosi but he remains confident that he can succeed at the club.
‘If I play my game, I shouldn’t have a problem to succeed at Chiefs. For sure, there is pressure, always is. However, I am confident in my abilities,’ the midfielder concluded.
Kaizer Chiefs will take on Bloemfontein Celtic in the annual Macufe Cup on Sunday at Free State Stadium kick-off: 15h00).
Kick-off has been set for 15:00.
