Maritzburg United chairman Farouk Kadodia has announced that the club have cut ties with veteran midfielder Manti Mekoa.
The former Orlando Pirates player joined Maritzburg at the start of last season where he signed a 1-year deal with the club. The player also had an option to renew that deal but the club has no confirmed that option has not been taken.
Mekoa lost favour at the Team of Choice following Ernst Middendorp’s arrival at the club.
‘Manti Mekoa, the club has released him and he is a free agent now,’ Kadodia told KickOff.
Mekoa had been linked with a move to Swallows FC only for the side’s proposed purchase of the top flight status of Free State Stars to fall through.
Mekoa managed 15 appearances for Matitzburg in all competitions last season.
