Mali secured the top spot in Group F after they claimed a 2-0 win over Mauritania in their final Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) Group F match at the Stade Omnisport de Douala in Cameroon on Thursday night.
The win saw the Eagles advance to the knockout phase as Group F winners and they will now take on Equatorial Guinea on 26 January, while Mauritania had already been eliminated from the tournament.

Gambia stunned 10-men Tunisia on Thursday evening after they secured a narrow 1-0 victory in their final Group F game at the Limbe Stadium in Limbe thanks to a winner from Ablie Jallow.
The Scorpions finished as runners-up in Group F and will face Guinea in the round of 16, while Tunisia will face off against Group D winners Nigeria.

Equatorial Guinea booked their place in the Afcon round of 16 after claiming a narrow 1-0 victory over 10-man Sierra Leone in their final Group E clash at the Limbe Stadium on Thursday evening.
Pablo Ganet’s 38th-minute goal proved to be the difference in Douala as Juan Obiang’s side finished second in the group on six points, just one behind group winners Ivory Coast.

Reigning champions Algeria were eliminated from the Afcon after they were subjected to a 3-1 defeat to Ivory Coast at the Stade Omnisports de Douala in Japoma.
Franck Kessie, Ibrahim Sangare and Nicolas Pepe got their names on the scoresheet to put Ivory Coast 3-0 ahead before Riyad Mahrez missed a penalty and Sofiane Bendebka scored a 73rd-minute goal, which proved to be a consolation.
