Ajax Cape Town have sealed a move for 23-year-old forward Joaquim Lupeta from Bidvest Wits, subject to a medical.
Lupeta, who played the majority of his youth football at the FC Porto academy, before joining Hungarian side Videoton FC has agreed terms for a move to the Cape side.
‘Jucie’, as he’s affectionately known to his teammates, arrived in South Africa in 2015 joining Wits from Portuguese Premier League club Vitoria Setubal.
The 23-year-old striker played 9 matches for the Portuguese U18 national team, scoring four goals.
‘The club is extremely pleased to have a player of Lupeta’s calibre joining to further improve the strike force currently consisting of the PSL’s second highest goal scorer Prince Nxumalo, seasoned campaigner Nathan Paulse, Tashreeq Morris, Thomas Chideu and newly promoted Mogamat May.’ wrote a statement on the club’s website.
Ajax Cape Town CEO Ari Efstathiou also promised further additions to the squad ahead of the new season.
‘We are nearing completion of one or two more exciting signings in the next few days. Then our squad will be complete and ready to challenge for more silverware in the new season,’ commented Efstathiou.
