Ajax Cape Town have announced the signing of attacking midfielder Mark Mayambela.
The midfielder spent time training with the Urban Warriors PSL squad and have engaged in the team’s training matches as well, where he stood out remarkably showing copious amounts of experience, according to the Ajax website.
Mayambela spent his entire youth career in Cape Town, where he became known for his trickery and goal scoring prowess.
The 28-year-old was on trial at Ikamva at the age of 19, however, he later emerged as a professional player in 2007 with Bloemfontein Celtic, where Mayambela went on to produce some magical moments and remained with Siwelele for three seasons.
In 2010, Mayambela joins Soweto giants Orlando Pirates, where he enjoyed some wonderful moments under the guidance of then Pirates coach Roger De Sa.
Mayambela went on to grace the European stages with Swedish side Djurgardens IF, where he instantly became a fan-favourite when the Swedish outfit’s supporters saw the attacking threat posed by Mayambela
The 28-year-old playmaker has been very impressive in training with the Urban Warriors in recent weeks and has also impressed Roger De Sa and his technical team in a number of training matches, showing his vast experience and sharing some inimitable moments with some of the younger players in the squad.
Over the course of his career, Mayambela scored nine goals and assisted 15 from 131 appearances in all competitions.
Mayambela has vast experience playing for the likes of Bloemfontein Celtic, Orlando Pirates, Mpumalanga Black Aces, Djurgardens IF, Royal Eagles, Chippa United, and SuperSport United.
