Doubt has been cast over Phakamani Mahlambi’s future at Al Ahly, however the Egyptian giants have confirmed that the former Bidvest Wits man will not leave the club.

Much has been said about the Bafana Bafana international’s multi-million rand move from the PSL to the land of Pharaohs, however six months after completing his move, the former PSL Young Player of the Year has failed to establish himself as a regular in the team, having made a mere two starts and five substitute appearances in his first six months with the Red Devils.

Mahlambi, who was also left out of The Red Devils’ CAF champions League squad has been assured that his future with the club is safe.

‘Phakamani’s case is totally closed. He will continue with us,’ the club’s football director, Sayed Abdel Hafeez told On Sport TV.

The 20-year-old’s agent Glyn Binkin rubbished claims that Orlando Pirates were interested in his services. He, did, however state that there were other teams that are interested in Mahlambi.
