Egyptian giants Al Ahly have confirmed that they have received an offer for Phakamani Mahlambi from ‘a club outside Egypt’ but have placed a hefty price tag on the South African.
The 20-year-old attacker joined the Egyptian giants in 2017 but has found his transition difficult as he made only 12 appearances for the club in the Premier League, scoring once and grabbing five assists.

The Egyptians were looking to offload Malambi to free up one of the foreign quota spots but an injury to Junior Ajayi looked to offer the South African a chance to stay at the club.
With Mamelodi Sundowns reportedly interested in bringing Mahlambi back to South Africa, it was confirmed on the club’s official website that Ahly have received an offer for the player but insisted that coach Patrice Carteron ‘would determine the player’s fate and the final response to the offer’.
Al Ahly’s director of transfers Mohamed Fadl also confirmed that the club will only sell the player if a suitable offer is made.

‘We have signed Phakamani Mahlambi for €1.3-million, but we might sell him for around €2-million because we see him as a very good player,’ Fadl said, according to KingFut.
‘He is a big player and plays for the South African national team, but we have very special foreign players, and that’s why he is currently in this situation.
‘Phakamani doesn’t want to continue with Al Ahly and we have got approval from Patrice Carteron to sell him. We can’t force him to stay,’ he explained.
‘But we can’t buy Phakamani for €1.3-million and then sell him for only €500,000,’ he concluded.
Where the attacker ends up remains to be seen, but if Pitso Mosimane is interested, his next destination could very well be Chloorkop.
