Amajita coach Thabo Senong says his plans are fitting into place ahead of their international friendly against Zambia on Sunday.
The Burger King-sponsored South African National U20 team played Orlando Pirates’ MultiChoice Diski team and the University of Johannesburg’s SAB League side on Tuesday morning and afternoon respectively.
Senong says his side played the Buccaneers as part of their preparations for their two international friendly matches against Zambia in Lusaka.
‘The idea of playing Orlando Pirates was to start planning for our West African counterparts in the Cup of Nations; they have many similarities to those of Cameroon who will be our first opponents,’ Senong told Safa.net.
The Amajita coach believes their two opponents gave the national U20 side a challenging task after they beat Pirates MDC side 3-2 and University of Johannesburg 6-0.
‘They gave us a run for our money ,but we are very happy with the exercise. The match against SAB League side University of Johannesburg was to try different formations and observe the versatility of a few players; alongside ensuring that the confidence is high and that the fitness levels are on the intensity we want them.’
Amajita will now take on Zambia in an international friendly match in Lusaka on Sunday.
Kick-off has been set for 15:00.
