Amajita secured a 2-0 win against Namibia to advance to the next round of the Caf U20 Cup of Nations qualifiers.
A Fagrie Lakay penalty in the 25th minute and a killer goal by Liam Jordan gave South Africa u20 a 2-0 aggregate win over Namibia to make it to the third round of qualifiers for the Caf African U20 Cup of Nations scheduled for February 2017 in Zambia.
Thabo Senong’s charges only had one thing on their mind which was to get the early goal and Amajita attacked from the word go, with a shot at great goal within the first few seconds of the match.
Amajita penetrated the Namibia defence throughout the first half and won a penalty in the 25th minute when Lakay was brought down in the box. He stepped up to score with a well taken penalty to put the hosts in a driving seat.
Efforts from Amajita to increase the score did not materialize as at times they were not composed in front of goals.
Liam Jordan came on for Fagrie Lakay in the 75th minute and his presence was immediately felt as he managed to get the killer second goal in the 83rd minute for Amajita.
‘I would like to congratulate the boys for the effort they have put into this match. We have had an interesting week in camp with the boys training, studying and writing their exams.
‘We could have won this match by at least three of four clear goals but we still have this problem of converting our chances. Today we managed to get the important win because we created chances; we managed to create some beautiful chances and managed to convert the two chances,’ said Senong.
Amajita will face the winner between Lesotho/Mozambique in the 3rd round of the Africa u20 Cup of Nations in July 2016.
