Kaizer Chiefs have secured their second successive in the Absa Premiership following a 2-0 victory over Maritzburg United at the FNB Stadium on Saturday.
The Team of Choice started the opening minutes of brightly and saw had the most of the possession.
However, the Glamour Boys opened the scoring in the 19th minute when Lorenzo Gordinho rose well to put the ball into the back of the net from a Chiefs corner.
Following their 1-0 lead, Amakhosi started seeing more of the ball with George Maluleka and Mitchell Katsvairo pulling the strings in the Chiefs midfield.
Meanwhile, Maritzburg had an opportunity to pull a goal when Bevan Fransman’s header was ruled out by the referee.
However, Steve Komphela’s side extended their lead on the stroke of halftime when Katsvairo’s pass found William Twala, who calmly slotted the ball past United goalkeeper Virgil Vries.
In the second half, the Team of Choice started seeing more possession on the ball and Komphela responded by introducing Daniel Cardoso for George Lebese in the 60th minute.
In the 81st minute, Chiefs goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune came to his side’s rescue producing a fine save to keep out Fransman’s glancing header.
However, the Glamour Boys held on to a comfortable 2-0 victory over Maritzburg United to record their second straight win in the Absa Premiership.
