Banyana Banyana have named a number of experienced players in their 18-woman squad for the 2016 Olympic Games, writes WADE PRETORIUS.
The team will be lead by regular skipper Janine van Wyk, who will look to fellow centurions Nompumelelo Nyandeni, Noko Matlou and Amanda Dlamini to help guide the side into the knockout phase in Brazil.
The experienced quartet are joined in the squad by three more players who boast over 50 caps including Nothando Vilakazi, Sanah Mollo and Refiloe Jane.
Roxanne Barker will look to build on the experience gained from London 2012 as she defends the Banyana line in Rio de Janeiro.
Banyana open their Rio 2016 account against Sweden on August 3 at the Olympic Stadium before returning to the same venue on August 6 for a clash against China.
South Africa’s final group fixture will be against the hosts in the Amazônia Arena in Manaus on August 9.
