One man has been confirmed dead and two others injured following a shoot-out at a bar during the African Cup of Nations qualifier between Bafana Bafana and Nigeria.
According to a report from News24, Ayanda Jamta, 24, was watching the crunch Afcon qualifier against Nigeria in a local tavern in the Eastern Cape with two of his friends on Saturday afternoon.
According to Colonel Priscilla Naidu of the Eastern Cape police, a fourth man who was not a part of the trio watching the Bafana game appeared in the bar and started arguing with Jamta and his friends.
Naidu added that the incident took place in Port Elizabeth at around 16:50, during the dying minutes of the game.
The unnamed gun man then started firing at the trio, where Jamta was struck on the left side of the back and died at the scene, while his one friend was hit in the shoulder and the other was shot multiple times times.
According to the report the shooter then ran away before he was later picked up by Police for acting suspiciously, where they found him in possession of the revolver linked to the shooting.
The man is expected to appear in court on Monday where he will face a murder charge and two of attempted murder.
