SuperSport United boss Stuart Baxter has praised the attitude of goalkeeper Reyaad Pieterse, who is training hard despite not having made an appearance.

Pieterse, a new Matsatsantsa recruit, arrived at the club from Kaizer Chiefs where he had predominately been utilised as a backup to first-choice shot-stopper Itumeleng Khune. Nevertheless, the talented 24-year-old was called into action on 15 occasions for Chiefs last season as Khune was sidelined by injuries.

The goalkeeper has found it tough at SuperSport as he faces stiff competition from first-choice Ronwen Williams, whose impressive form continued last week as he denied a Wayde Jooste penalty in his side’s clash against Golden Arrows.

‘Reyaad’s got a fantastic attitude and Reyaad works hard,’ Baxter told KickOff. ‘The other day I was talking to him about how he can work on his foot work and he asked those questions why and he knows he’s got a few things to work on.

‘If he can work on those things and of course he’s competitive and that’s great and he’s pushing Ronwen and Ronwen owns the only shirt and he’s always learning,’ Baxter added.

SuperSport are next in action when they welcome Highlands Park to the Lucas Moripe Stadium on October 16.

The match is set to get underway from 15:30.
