Mamelodi Sundowns could be without Thabo Nthethe and key playmaker Khama Billiat for their upcoming Caf Champions League clash with Zamalek.
The Brazilians have a plan in place to beat the Egyptian side and add to the three points they picked up when they recorded victory over Enyimba but must deal with a number of injury concerns ahead of Sunday’s tie in Egypt.
The club announced the injury worries via a statement on their website, while also confirming Mzikayise Mashaba and Kennedy Mweene were still in doubt.
‘Sundowns have a few injury concerns – Khama Billiat who got a knock during training on his ankle, Thabo Nthethe who got a knock on the quadriceps during the Enyimba game, Mzikayise Mashaba, who is still recovering from a groin injury from the end of last season, and experienced goal-minder Kennedy Mweene, who was injured just before the Enyimba game.’
Goalkeeper Denis Onyango, who has just returned from suspension, remains confident the PSL champions will prevail in spite of their injury worries.
‘We are ready for them. We have been working hard, and we are determined that nothing will stop us,’ he said.
The match will take place this Sunday, July 17.
The action will be live from the International Stadium.
Kick-off is at 19:30.
