Bloemfontein Celtic CEO Khumbulani Konco has confirmed that the club has parted ways with head coach Serame Letsoaka.

This was announced at the supporters general meeting on Sunday at the Dr Molemela Stadium Indoor Centre, following Phunya Sele Sele’s defeat against Bidvest Wits on Saturday.

Konco said that Letsoaka had not met the requirements of the club this season for results in all competitions.

‘Unfortunately, results are not forthcoming and the reality is that football is results driven. After our meeting with the coach, we agreed to part ways,’ Konco told the Bloemfontein Celtic website.

‘It was not an easy decision to take, purely because of our healthy relationship with the coach. We would like to wish him all of the best in his future endeavours.’

Konco has opened up about the vandalism at the stadium following Celtic’s 2-1 defeat to the Clever Boys. He believes it should be resolved in a professional manner.

‘We are disappointed as management at scenes of hooliganism that prevailed on the night of our game against Bidvest Wits. Looting and vandalising the stadium is wrong, and must be condemned with the contempt it deserves,’ he said.

‘There are proper supporters branch structures in place for supporters to address their grievances. Seeing a section of fans acting improperly made us question their agenda for acting in such a rebellious manner.’

Bloemfontein Celtic will next take on Cape Town City in the Absa Premiership at the Cape Town Stadium on Wednesday.

Kick-off has been set for 19:30.
