Bloemfontein Celtic have parted ways with defender Cheslyn Jampies after he breached the club’s rules and code of conduct.
The Cape Town-born defender joined Phunya Sele Sele earlier this year from Jomo Cosmos.
The 26-year-old was released by the club after found guilty by a disciplinary hearing for breaching the club’s rules and code of conduct in an incident in November.
CEO Khumbuani Konco was sad to lose a player of Jampies’ versatility, but insisted that club rules had to be respected.
‘We have a rule book that is given to each player when they join the team and all players are expected to use it as a guideline,’ Konco told the Bloemfontein Celtic website.
‘We expect our players to be professional on and off the field considering that they represent a brand that is backed by sponsors and supporters. We are sad to release Cheslyn, but the rules have to be followed as a sign of respect to the club [badge] and teammates.
‘The player has been given his clearance and is at liberty to join a team of his choice. Celtic wishes Cheslyn the best of luck in his career and future plans.’
Bloemfontein Celtic next meet on Baroka at the Dr Molemela Stadium in the Absa Premiership on Wednesday.
Kick-off has been set for 19:30.
