Despite making three big name signings on Tuesday, Orlando Pirates remain far from finished in the transfer market and are pushing for blockbuster moves for Steven Pienaar and Sibusiso Vilakazi.
The Buccaneers confirmed the addition of Ghanaian forward Bernard Morrison this morning from Indian Super League Delhi Dynamos, while the club has also struck a deal with Ajax Cape Town for the transfers of winger Riyaad Norodien and defender Abbubaker Mobara, reports KickOff.
Now, club boss Irvin Khoza has confirmed the club are busy conducting negotiations with former Bafana Bafana star Steven Pienaar, who is a free agent following his release from Everton.
Meanwhile, attacking midfielder Sibusiso Vilakazi of Bidvest Wits remains the club’s biggest target.
‘As it stands now Sundowns remain hot favourites, but Pirates are also pushing hard. There should be something concrete with Vilakazi this week,’ a source has claimed.
Any deal for Vilakazi will likely come at a substantial fee, as Kaizer Chiefs have already had an R8-million bid for the star rebuffed.
The player made 31 appearances for Wits across all competitions last term, netting nine times and assisting an additional four.
