Orlando Pirates claimed their first victory under new coach Muhsin Ertugral following a 5-0 thumping of the NWU in their pre-season friendly encounter on Thursday.
The newly appointed coach has been putting his side through their paces in a five-day camp based in Potchefstroom before their pre-season victory over NWU.
Goals from Luvuyo Memela, Thamsanqa Gabuza, Oupa Manyisa, Thandai Ndoro and Ntsikelelo Nyauza, handed the Buccaneers their first pre-season victory as they prepare for the season ahead.
Ertugral used two different squads for the two halves to assess all his players at his disposal, barring the exclusion of Bernard Morrison and Jackson Mabokgwane who were nursing a slight injury, reports the Orlando Pirates website.
The result was positive for Ertugral, however, the main focus for the technical team was to assess how the players understand the coaches footballing philosophies .
The team had a short time to recover before they begin training for their last friendly match in Potchefstroom on Saturday.
The Soweto giant will then return to Johannesburg on Saturday, where they will turn their attention to their Carling Black Label Champion Cup against Kaizer Chiefs.
