Bulls coach Jake White is sweating an another knee injury for flyhalf Johan Goosen picked up in the 48-7 Champions Cup win over Bordeaux in Pretoria on Saturday.
The result means the Bulls qualify for the Challenge Cup knockout rounds, but may be without Goosen after he went off in the first half.
“(The team doctor) said at the moment it is very difficult (to assess) because it is swollen,” White said. “So he will go for a scan on Monday and see, but he’s got knees like crystal – he has had lots and lots of knee injuries.
“I am hoping that it is something like a meniscus or cartilage as opposed to a ligament, but I can’t speculate now until he has the scan.
“He will definitely be out for a couple of weeks, there is no doubt in my mind about that.”
White says he may need to get creative with his flyhalves in light of the injury, which could even mean a run at 10 for Willie le Roux.
“It creates an opportunity and a chance for someone else. Whether we play Willie at 10 or Jaco (van der Walt) or Boeta (Chamberlain) – we’ve even got Keagan Johannes. So it just depends on what combination we will go with.”
