Cape Town City have given lifetime season tickets to 30 football legends including the likes of former Orlando Pirates duo Thabo Mngomeni and David Nyathi.

Cape Town City in consultation with former football professionals Keith America, George Dearnaley and Clive Daries, who have monitored the football fraternity closely over the years, read Cape Town City’s press release.

With the help of Peter Raath who is the custodian of extensive information on South African Football history, as well as with Safa CT President Norman Arendse with additional input from supporters via social media, have selected 30 Cape Town Football legends that the club will be honouring.

City owner John Comitis gave clarity on how the clubs come to selecting 30 Cape Town legends.

‘We initially had a list of 80 names, however, we had to bring it down to an exclusive group of the 30 most senior legends in Cape Town,’ Comitis said.

Comitis says the legends will be honoured on their opening Absa Premiership match against Polokwane City on August 23, where they will be receiving lifetime season tickets.

‘We have had many extraordinary football talents hailing from Cape Town, however for this moment we would like to honour these most senior guys with the well-deserved accolades that are outstanding to them, for their service to the game,’ he added.

The list of legends includes Abe Wymers, Bassier Medell, Bernard Hartze, Bernie Van Niekerk, Billy o Grady, Boebie Solomons, Clive Daries, Coenie Stuurman, Ben Anderson, David Nyathi, Desiree Ellis, Ernest Zondi, Farouk Abrahams, Gary France, George Van Niekerk, Ivan Dagnin, Khayo Mngomeni, Neville Londt, Pepe Dos Santos, Puzzy Jansen, Reggie Jantjies, Peter Eagles, Peter Fisher, Francis Tana, Sabelo Peter, Sergio Dos Santos, Thabo Mngomeni, Tony Lupto, Vince Belgiums, and Wilf de Bruyn.
