SuperSport United face a big decision on winger Aubrey Modiba in the January transfer window with the Bafana Bafana international out of contract at season’s end and unlikely to sign a new deal.
Entering the final six months of his contract, the 24-year-old is wanted by a number of suitors both locally and in Europe.
Mamelodi Sundowns are known admirers and made a public attempt to bring him to Chloorkop in the previous transfer window, but their cross-town rivals were unwilling sellers.
Modiba’s agent, Glyn Binkin, has now revealed that the player has a number on offers on the table and that he is unlikely to sign the deal that has been offered to him by SuperSport.
‘We have a couple of options, but we’ll see. His priority at the moment is SuperSport,’ said Binkin.
‘We have been speaking with SuperSport for a number of months now, so we’ll see what happens. Many clubs are interested in him. There has been some interest overseas, so we’ll see. At this point it would be a bit premature to discuss what will happen,’ added the agent.
Binkin also admits SuperSport would be open to an overseas sale but tempted if Sundowns put up a sizeable offer.
‘I think if Sundowns also make a good offer in January then they will have to consider it, but remember, it will be up to the player … he can still refuse,’ he concluded.
