Kaizer Chiefs new signing Anthony Akumu admits he is still getting a feel for the philosophy of the team and the tactics of coach Ernst Middendorp.
The big midfielder made his debut in the recent Nedbank Cup clash with Royal Eagles after joining the club in the January transfer window as a free agent in January, following his departure from Zambian giants ZESCO United in December last year.
Speaking in the wake of debut, the 27-year-old admitted that he didn’t think his debut would come so quickly as he thanked his teammates and technical team for their support.
‘I was looking forward to getting a chance to play. I did not know it would come so early, for that I thank the technical team and my teammates for their support,’ said Akumu on Chiefs’ website.
‘I also thank God because everything went well for us and me personally [in that game]. It’s a great thing, I am so happy to have been part of the game against Royal Eagles and made history.
‘I am looking forward to playing more and getting more game time as the season progresses.
‘I am learning the philosophy of the team and the tactics of the coach. I am getting better and soon everything will be fall into place,’ he added.
‘My teammates have been very supportive. My former teammate at Zesco, Lazalous Kambole, has been here which has helped. All the guys have guided me well, for which I am grateful.’
