Chippa United are set to meet with a delegation from Atletico Madrid on Tuesday morning in the hopes of striking an arrangement with the Spanish side.
Chilli Boys boss Chippa Mpengesi confirmed the visit when he spoke to the press on Monday.
‘Yes, we are proud to announce that we will get a visit from Spanish giants Atletico Madrid on Tuesday,’ Mpengesi told KickOff.
‘Together with the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality and Department of Sport in the province, we are looking forward to welcoming the delegation from Spain.’
The high-flying La Liga side are believed to be keen on opening a new football academy in the region and are hopeful that Chippa will work with them to ensure its success.
‘They wish to build an academy in the Eastern Cape and want us to get involved as Chippa United. We will also discuss the possibility of working together to enhance our development structures,’ Mpengesi added.
Mpengesi concluded by thanking South African ambassador in Spain Smuts Ngonyama for his role in helping to make the delegation possible.
