Club Brugge coach Philippe Clement explained why Percy Tau was excluded from their victory over Zulte Waregem on Wednesday.
Brugge were with the services of the Bafana Bafana star when they extended their lead at the top of the Belgian Pro League table to three points following their 2-0 victory over Zulte Waregem at the Regenboog Stadium on Wednesday.
The victory took the Belgium club are now up to 30 points from their first 12 games in the league so far this season.
However, Tau managed to get a few minutes under his belt after playing the first half of their 1-1 draw against Standard Liege last Sunday.
Clement revealed that the former Mamelodi Sundowns star needs time to rest and recover after playing the entire campaign for Royale Union Saint-Gilloise in the Belgian second tier last season.
‘Percy Tau is not in the team because he is not fresh enough‚’ Clement told reporters.
‘Last season he was still playing in the second division and he needs rest.’
Tau will be hoping to return to the starting lineup when Club Brugge take on Kortrijk in their next league game on Saturday.
