Cape Town City chairman John Comitis says forward Ayanda Patosi has abilities that no one else has and that he expects some contact from European clubs at the end of the season.

The attacker has begun to show his true ability at the Cape Town outfit after having to overcome a number of off-field issues in his first season back in South Africa following a six-year spell with Belgian outfit Lokeren.

Many questioned whether the forward had the attitude to adapt to the South African game but impressive performances against Orlando Pirates, where he bagged a spectacular double, and his influence over City’s triumphant run to lifting the MTN8 indicate that he is back to his best.

Speaking to KickOff, Comitis admitted that they had to show patience with Patosi, but they are starting to reap the rewards.

‘He came back from Europe and he had some issues to deal with, and at the same time, he’s got a weight problem which he had to address using a full scientific evaluation of his composition with everything. We had to assist him,’ said the City chairman.

‘The PSL is a difficult league. It’s a quick league, it’s a tough league, it’s a competitive league. But when you see his ability that nobody else has, his mind on the pitch, he sees things before anybody sees … then you know it’s just about getting the physical condition, and I could see it coming, you know, and I think it’s getting better and better.’

Comitis also admitted that if Patosi continues to show this kind of form, it is inevitable that there would be clubs looking to take him back to Europe.

‘The problem is going to come at the end of the season when we have five, six European clubs chasing him again, you know. But that’s the way football is and at the same time, we are very happy he’s progressed.’
