Maritzburg United stand-in coach Fadlu Davids says he would like to secure his first victory at home without putting pressure on his squad ahead of their clash against Orlando Pirates on December 13.
The club’s former assistant coach has now been in charge of the senior team for four matches since the departure of Ernest Middendorp and has won two matches, drawn one and lost one.
The coach was very impressed with the fighting spirit his charges displayed in the scorching sun at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium against Baroka.
Davids has hailed his side’s fighting spirit against Baroka but insists that he has now turned his attention to clinching his first victory at the Team of Choice’s home ground on December 13.
‘Credit to the players, they fought very hard under difficult circumstances. They showed a lot of fighting spirit,’ Davids told the Mariztburg United website.
‘But that’s in the past now. We are starting afresh against Pirates. The first victory at home is on everybody’s mind, but we are careful not to put ourselves under pressure.’
Maritzburg United will now welcome Orlando Pirates to the Harry Gwala Stadium in the Absa Premiership on Tuesday.
Kick-off has been set for 19:30.
