Ajax Cape Town assistant coach Mich d’Avray can’t wait to unleash Portuguese striker Joaquim Lupeta on the PSL.
The 23-year-old striker joined the Urban Warriors from Bidvest Wits after failing to score a single goal during 14 matches in all competition under coach Gavin Hunt.
The Urban Warriors assistant coach has sung the powerful forward’s praises and feels he is a superb addition to the Cape club’s squad, according to KickOff.com.
‘We’ve already nicknamed him ‘The Beast’,’ d’Avray said.
‘You must see this guy – I tell you, he really is strong. I don’t think there’s a stronger striker in the league, and I mean that, sincerely.
‘He’s got some really good qualities – he’s got a directness about him, and when he receives the ball, his first thought is to turn and have a shot a goal.’
D’Avray admits the former Portugal Under-18 international is not the finished product but is excited at the prospect of utilising his athleticism and strength on the pitch
D’Avray admits that the club will assist in helping Lupeta improve in areas of his game where he is lacking.
‘We have to polish him up a little bit, as there are some areas of his game where he is lacking,’ he added.
‘But I think when you see him on the field you’ll understand what I’m talking about. He really is a monster.’
