Former Bafana Bafana captain Dean Furman has turned down the chance to join English League Two outfit Oldham Athletic, according to head coach Keith Curle.
The 33-year-old has been a free agent since parting ways with Carlisle United after his contract with the League Two side expired last season.
Furman looked set to join his former club Oldham after training with the first team in recent weeks.
However, Curle confirmed that Furman has decided to go elsewhere in search of a better offer after completing his Latics trial.
“We got pressurised, not pressurised, but we got asked by his agent. He had a few other offers on the table and we understood that,” Keith Curle told the Oldham Times.
“We made him an offer and in his opinion, their opinion – him and the agent – he thought potentially he’d be able to get a better offer elsewhere.
“It’s one of those. I wish him well, great lad, great professional but every player’s got a price and what may be offered elsewhere might be just out of our reach.”
