Orlando Pirates coach Muhsin Ertugral says striker Thamsanqa Gabuza should be fit for their Soweto Derby clash with Kaizer Chiefs at the FNB Stadium on Saturday.
The 29-year-old striker picked up an injury after scoring in the Sea Robbers’ friendly match against the U20 side on Tuesday.
Ertugral was coy about his players’ availability this weekend, opting not to comment on who was fit to play at yesterday’s press conference. Gabuza was the only player he mentioned.
The Turkish tactician said the Bafana Bafana striker is fit and has competed in a friendly match already, but he will have to wait and see if he plays or not.
‘Gabuza is unique! He played against the U20s on Tuesday and scored two beautiful goals and then he got injured. We thought he’d be out of the game, but we came back today and he had his boots on. He’s unique, a character, and we love characters.
‘So I think he’s fit, we’ll see if he comes in during the game or not.’
Orlando Pirates against Kaizer Chiefs kicks off at 15:30.
