Ajax Cape Town goalkeeper Jody February says he is nervous about contending with Itumeleng Khune for starting berth at the Rio Olympics games in August.

The Ajax and Kaizer Chiefs goalkeepers are the only goalkeepers in coach Owen da Gama’s national U-23 squad, with Khune included as an overage player alongside defender Erick Mathoho.

The 20-year-old believes contending with the experienced Khune will prove to be a tough battle.

‘I’m happy. Nervous but happy. Nervous for coming up against Itu. It’s going to be very good competition though,’ February told KickOff.com.

‘I can learn a lot from him. I’m very confident about the squad. It’s well balanced and I think we have what it takes to make history again,’ he added.

The South African U23 side has been grouped together with hosts Brazil, Denmark, and Iraq in Group A.
