Orlando Pirates centre back Ayanda Gcaba has insisted his side do not fear Bidvest Wits despite the side’s recent victory over Kaizer Chiefs.
Pirates were beaten comfortably by Chiefs in the Carling Cup in pre-season before regrouping to put on a more impressive display in their league opener against Golden Arrows, winning 3-1.
Meanwhile, Wits made light work of Chiefs in their respective league debut this season as they claimed a convincing 2-1 victory over the Amakhosi.
Now, Wits and Pirates are set to meet in the quarter-finals of the MTN8 on Saturday. Wits have been instated as favourites for the tie, as the side not only beat the Glamour Boys but will also play the fixture at home.
‘Having watched Wits on Tuesday night, I wouldn’t really say that they gave us a scare, Gcaba told Goal.
‘I also watched their game [against Chiefs on Tuesday] and it was pretty interesting and they definitely left me with something to think about,’ he added.
Gcaba is positive his side will have to work hard if they are to overcome Wits but is convinced his side have begun to gel following the arrival of new coach Muhsin Ertugral.
‘We just want to get the results which is the most important thing,’ Gcaba concluded.
The match will be played at the Bidvest Stadium.
Kick-off is at 20:15
