Gorowa’s ban follows the 44-year-old having been found guilty of participating in a match-fixing scandal that reportedly set to fix the results of several matches South Africa’s Premiership, among others, reports Kickoff.

While the Absa Premiership ruling body has been slow to react to the allegations, Zimbabwean authorities have acted swiftly.

Agent Edzai Kasinauyo, a former Maroka Swallows and Ajax Cape Town star, has also been handed a 10-year ban following his role in the scandal, while Zimbabwe Football Association (Zifa) employees Henrietta Rushwaya and Jonathan Musavengana have been banned for life. The latter pair had previously been handed bans in 2009 following the Asiagate scandal, but subsequently had their sanctions lifted.

Finally, ex-Zimbabwe national team assistant coach Nation Dube will serve a five-year ban for his part in the affair.

The conspirators were allegedly apprehended following an attempt to influence Zimbabwe’s Afcon 2017 qualifier against Swaziland back in March, a coup that failed when authorities were alerted. Now, following the localised ban, Zifa have requested that Fifa extent that ban worldwide.

Zifa is seto to be dissolved and be replaced by the National Football Association of Zimbabwe (NFAZ) following bankruptcy.
