Platinum Stars goalkeeper Mbongeni Mzimela believes hard work is one of the key ingredients Dikwena need to be successful this season.

The 31-year-old played an integral part in helping Dikwena to a third place finish in the Absa Premiership last season, keeping eight clean sheets from 21 appearances in the PSL, reports the Platinum Stars website.

Mzimela says he expects a tough Absa Premiership campaign this season and he believes if his side works hard and honour the coaches philosophies, then the team will improve as a unit.

‘This season is going to be a difficult season. There’s no team that is planning to go down. If you check all the teams are balanced. We have to work hard. I think hard work and following the coach’s instructions are going to help us improve,’ Mzimela said.

‘We also have to conduct ourselves well outside the field. Games are going to come thick and fast. We have to know how to rest our bodies when we are not playing. I believe that we are going to achieve as long as we have unity.’

The former Chippa United shot-stopper says he will work hard toward winning silverware with Dikwena and hopefully getting a call-up to the Bafana Bafana squad.

‘I want to play as many games as possible this season and win at least one trophy. It’s my dream to also get a chance to play for the national team. If we get two trophies it will be a great achievement because even one trophy is fine,’ he added.

Over the course of his career, Mzimela has kept 32 clean sheets from 98 appearances in all competitions playing for the likes of AmaZulu, Thanda Royal Zulu, Chippa United, and Stars.
