Bidvest Wits captain Thulani Hlatshwayo is pleased that the Clever Boys have reached the MTN8 final but admitted there is hard work ahead.
The Students advanced 3-0 on aggregate following the goalless with City at Cape Town Stadium on Saturday.
The 26-year-old says he is delighted to have led his side to the finals but he admits that coach Gavin Hunt wasn’t too happy with their laid back performance in the second leg.
‘We are happy that we managed to go through to the final, though you know the coach wasn’t happy with the way we played,’ Hlatshwayo said.
‘Even when we won 3-0 at home, he was not happy. So I’m sure he’s not happy today because the guys were a bit relaxed. We shouldn’t take the advantage because we were 3-0 up.’
However, Hlatshwayo says he is looking forward to seeing who Wits will face in the finals next month.
‘For sure we are happy as a team to go through to the final and we will see who we are up against,’ he added.
The Clever Boys will now take on either Mamelodi Sundowns or Chippa United in the final of the Top 8 tournament.
Bidvest Wits will now return to the Absa Premiership when they face Baroka at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium on Tuesday.
The match kicks off at 19:30.
