SoccerClub looks back at Mamelodi Sundowns’ journey through this season’s Nedbank Cup leading up to the semi-finals clash with Bidvest Wits.

The Brazilians will resume the 2019-20 campaign in a mouthwatering clash with Wits when the two sides square off at the Orlando Stadium in the Nedbank Cup semi-final.

Pitso Mosimane’s side began their cup campaign with a 1-0 victory over Tshwane rivals SuperSport United, with Sibusiso Vilakazi’s first-half goal proving to be the difference at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on 8 February.

Sundowns took on ‘giant killers’ Vaal University in the last 16 and when on to secure a 2-0 win at the same venue 15 days later through goals by Wayne Arendse and Phakamani Mahlambi.

Masandawana then managed to secure a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Highlands Park at the Makhulong Stadium in Tembisa on 14 March, with Keletso Makgalwa netting the only goal of the game to fire his side into the semi-finals of the competition.
