Bidvest Wits boss Gavin Hunt is sceptical of Mamelodi Sundowns’ credentials for a repeat season of Premiership dominance.
Hunt is confident Downs won’t have things all their own way next season as the likes of Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United have all overhauled their squads with fresh new talent.
The Brazilians raced away with the league title last season as they set a record point tally of 71 before eventually finishing a mammoth 14 points clear of nearest rivals Wits.
‘I think the points total will never be the same again from Sundowns. I think everybody will be stronger and will take points from each other, where last year Chiefs and Pirates were poor,’ the coach said, reports KickOff.
‘They never took points from Sundowns like they normally do. So I think the points total will be lower this year. I don’t think they will get as many like they got last year. ‘
The coach explained that so long as the likes of Supersport, Pirates and Chiefs could convert their new signings into points, the league would be more equal.
Wits begin their new Premiership campaign with a clash against Chiefs at Bidvest Stadium on August 23.
Kick-off is at 19:30.
