Bidvest Wits boss Gavin Hunt has played down his side’s achievements following back-to-back victories over Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs.
The Clever Boys were victorious over the Amakhosi in their first league match of the campaign before they followed up that triumph with a comeback win over Bucs that ensured their progress into the MTN8 semis.
‘Every game is a giant – every game is a good hard game, so obviously we’ve had these two games now, but we came back, showed good character, and showed what we can hopefully maintain through the season, and a good attitude as well,’ Hunt told the media, reports KickOff.
‘But it’s early, early, early [in the season],’ the coach continued. ‘The team will be tested as the months go on. The problem for us, like everyone else, is that we won’t play now for the next two weeks.’
Hunt has issued caution despite the side’s fast start, insisting the season is young and urging his side not to get ahead of themselves.
‘As it goes on in the season, it will get harder and harder … I think everyone has lifted their game and improved, so everyone, like us, is trying to improve our squads and our teams, that’s all,’ he concluded.
Wits next face Polokwane City in the Premiership on Tuesday, September 13, following the international break.
The fixture will be played at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.
Kick-off is at 19:30.
