Gavin Hunt revealed that Mogakolodi Ngele and Cuthbert Malajila are not keen on returning to Mamelodi Sundowns following their successful loan spell at Bidvest Wits.
The Clever Boys on Saturday lifted their maiden Absa Premiership title, despite falling to a 1-0 defeat against Kaizer Chiefs through a 90th-minute goal by Gustavo Paez at the FNB Stadium.
The 52-year-old has revealed that duo Ngele and Malajila are not keen on returning to the Brazilians following their title-winning season with Wits.
‘The players are going back. Sundowns want double figures (in millions) for them,’ Hunt told reporters.
‘At this point in time‚ they don’t want to go back‚ but they’ll go back. They have a contract and that was part of the deal,’ he confirmed.
Despite receiving R10 million for winning the PSL title, Hunt insists that he will not ‘spend ridiculous money on players’ in the Absa Premiership.
‘If you look at the local market‚ and I said to somebody yesterday‚ “If you give somebody R100 million‚ who are you going to buy in South Africa?” because you don’t want to pay prices like that‚ and spend ridiculous money on players, and we don’t do that,’ he said.
‘So, it’s very difficult to acquire players. We have to look‚ like we do – in the free market and try and build up the right players. So, we have to look outside‚ I’m sorry to say,’ added Hunt.
Hunt has now gone on to win his fourth PSL title, having won the league thrice in a row with SuperSport United in 2007-08, 2008-09 and 2009-10.
