Lebohang ‘Cheeseboy’ Mokoena has revealed Orlando Pirates and the club’s supporters still occupy a special place in his heart.

Mokoena, who made his debut for the side back in the 2003-04 season as a 17-year-old, went on to make 66 appearances for Pirates before leaving the club in 2009, having fallen out of favour with the side’s then boss Ruud Krol. Nevertheless, the winger, now 29, still feels attached to the club.

‘People always tell me that they wish I could go back home [Pirates]. If it was possible for me to take myself back I would you know. I feel like I still owe them little bit of something, that I left very early. If only God could allow it [Pirates reunion],’ Mokoena told KickOff.

‘I’ve really missed all the supporters. It’s an amazing feeling that I get when I walk in the street from Pirates supporters, Chiefs supporters even Sundowns supporters. It is overwhelming, it actually makes the heart melt,’ he added.

Mokoena is currently a free agent having cut ties with Mamelodi Sundowns earlier this month. The player has since been rumoured to be in talks with Kaizer Chiefs, but was not among the players announced by Chiefs as new signings for next term on Monday.
