Former Orlando Pirates star Benni McCarthy says he would have no problem taking the managerial reins at Kaizer Chiefs someday.

Having recently acquired his Uefa A coaching license, Bafana Bafana’s all-time record goalscorer is poised to begin earning the highest coaching qualification, the Uefa Pro license.

With a future in management looking all but guaranteed, the ex-striker has refused to rule out the possibility of coaching the Amakhosi one day, despite close ties to Orlando Pirates.

‘Why would I say no? It’s a job … it’s part of life,’ McCarthy told SoccerLaduma.

‘If I could get an opportunity and it was at Chiefs, why should I say no to one of the biggest teams in South Africa?’

McCarthy stressed that in his professional capacity as a manager he would seize the opportunity to coach any top club so long as the project excited his interest.

‘If the opportunity arises ,of course I would take it. For example, Jose Mourinho said he was a Chelsea man and now he is with one of their biggest rivals!’

‘They are a big club so why would anybody in the whole world say no to Chiefs?’ McCarthy concluded.

McCarthy remains the leading goal scorer of all-time for South Africa and has been out of work since the conclusion of his contract with Belgian side Sint-Truiden.
