Ajax Cape Town goalkeeper Anssi Jaakkola cold be set to join English Championship side Reading ahead of the new season.

According to SoccerLaduma, a source has indicated that the 29-year-old is set to join the Royals ahead of the 2016-2017 Championship season.

The Finnish shot-stopper has one year left on his contract with the Cape Town-based club and it is understood that the Urban Warriors are looking to cash in on the goalkeeper, rather than lose him on a free transfer next season.

In the past, Jaakkola has insisted that he would like to return to Europe where he previously played his trade for Serie A side Siena.

Last season, the Finland international made 32 appearances for the Urban Warriors in all competitions, keeping seven clean sheets in the process.
