Platinum Stars coach Cavin Johnson says he was satisfied with collecting a point against Chippa United following their 1-1 draw at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.
Prior the game, Dikwena had lost two consecutive matches. Johnson was happy that his men managed a draw away to Chippa. Midfielder Robert Ngambi scored for Dikwena while Thembinkosi Lorch scored for the home side.
The 57-year-old says he was delighted to walk away with a point against the Chilli Boys and he believes his side have shown signs of improvement following the stalemate.
‘It’s good that we got a point. The players really upped their game. It’s a very good point to get it away from Chippa in PE. For the first time this year, I have seen an open game,’ Johnson told the Platinum Stars website.
‘We were happy to come away with one point. If you look at where the team has been in recent games, we lost two games because of our own doing. We came back and fought last night and I think it is well done on the players’ side.’
Johnson says his side created many opportunities during the match to score and were rewarded in the 60th minute and he believes his side will get better the more games they play.
‘Slowly but surely we are getting back. We really had opportunities to score goals. It’s work in progress and considering where we were before this games, you can expect the nerves to go a little bit. We will get better.’
Platinum Stars will now take on Golden Arrows when the two side’s meet in the Absa Premiership on Wednesday.
The match at Prince Magogo Stadium kicks off at 19:30.
